And hey, a word of advice, when you start blogging, don't make money as your main motivation. Instead, you should think of building as much traffic as possible in your blog. This only means that, you should try to lure as many readers on your blog before focusing in optimizing your blog to a money making website. So, how to do this? Well, there's a lot of way to do it. There's the traditional Search Engine Optimization wherein you'll try every white hat method possible to make your blog or website likable by Google Search Engine or any other search engine out there and, there's what I called "Blog Advertising". Well, "Blog Advertising" is really simple but tedious in a way. This is where you advertise your own blog by telling other people about it. You can go to social networking website and share your blog with your friends, or you can go to a blog carnival and submit a post that you considered as a pillar article, or you can talk with your fellow blogger and tell them of your new blog. There's really a lot of way to advertise your blog to people. You just need a lot of perseverance, patience and determination to market your blog to people. Also, there's another way to advertise your blog. And this way is called, "Pinging Your Blog".
What is that?
"Pinging your blog" or sometime's called "submitting your blog" is somehow similar to advertising your blog to people. The only difference is, you're trying to advertise your blog to search engine. That's right. It's like letting all the search engine out there know that your blog has been updated or you have added a fresh, new content to your blog. In fact, I consider this as the first step in advertising your website.
How do you Ping your Blog?
It's really simple. You can go to some of the trusted ping services website and submit your blog. You can ping every time you have new content in your blog and I personally suggest that you do this because it's definitely worthed. You can check the image below to see how easy pinging your blog is. However, I strongly suggest not to ping your same post more than once, as it is considered ping spamming. Here's some of the trusted ping services that I've used:
Benefits of Pinging Your Blog/Website
The basic reason to ping your blog is that it can help you to get free traffic and it also boosts your search engine visibility. It is an easy way to notify your market that you have something new for them. Aside from building free traffic in your website, the main purpose of pingers is fast crawling of websites and definitely it helps. I have done this several times with my blogs and it really helped me a lot. For example is my website about handheld games. I tried to ping every time I have a new content and within a month, my website became visible in google search engine which great affects my rankings on it.
