Will Elder Scrolls 6 be announce at E3 2016? Don't count on it!
"The Elder Scrolls VI" has been a hot topic for gamers, and many think the game will be revealed during Bethesda's E3 2016 press conference. However, common sense tells us why that's likely not the case.
Bethesda's Twitter account, from which social media representatives confirmed a press conference just before E3 2016. Its date and details can be read in the image below!
Considering last year's massive "Fallout 4" showcase, many believe that Bethesda will have another title of the same caliber to show off this year. While the developer's portfolio is large and getting larger, the most logical name to fit that bill would, of course, be "The Elder Scrolls VI." That is, until one thinks about the swath of other treats Bethesda could possibly reveal instead.
Most notably, we still haven't heard any news with regard to "Fallout 4" DLC. Even before the game was launched, advertisers tried to convince rabid fans to invest in a $30 season pass. Up until now, that extra purchase has essentially been useless. What better way to capitalize on the continued fanfare for this existing game than to fully detail its DLC on one of the games industry's biggest stages? DLC reveals aren't typically hyped that much, but Bethesda has a history of making its add-ons meaty enough to garner attention.
Not to mention that Bethesda Game Studios is at least partially involved in making that content. Would the same crew really be able to finish an "Elder Scrolls" game with "Fallout 4" goodies set to release first? It's also worth remembering that "Dishonored 2" and "The Elder Scrolls Online" were heavily featured last year and haven't had much of an update since. To seal the deal, there's the obvious lack of follow ups for previously successful titles like "Wolfenstein: The New Order" and "The Evil Within." It's been years since we've heard from the studios behind those games, so something new is likely in the works.
The point being made here is that Bethesda's E3 press conference already has enough potential content to be a successful show. That's all the more reason to save "The Elder Scrolls VI" for another time.
After all, Bethesda PR guru Pete Hines said in August that it would be "a very long time" before his central development team decides how to proceed after "Fallout 4." The company's reported intent is to release "The Elder Scrolls VI" at a time when it matches the high-quality standard of those spearheading the project. To them, time between releases is a low priority.
While nothing will be confirmed until the press conference date, official statements and Bethesda's large game catalog seem to imply that "The Elder Scrolls VI" won't be revealed anytime soon.
Bethesda's E3 press conference is scheduled for June 12, 2016, at 7 p.m. PT.
