Overall Introduction About Three Types of Jailbreak

iOS jailbreak is always a hot topic around iPhone/iPod/iPad users. In earlier 3uTools tutorials, we’ve introduced what’s iOS jailbreak and its pros and cons. This tutorial aims to show you an overall introduction about Untethered jailbreak, Tethered Jailbreak and SemiTethered Jailbreak.

From the photo above, you can easily distinguish those different jailbreaks.

* Untethered Jailbreak

An untethered jailbreak uses exploits to allow user to turn their device off and back on at will, with the device starting up completely, and the kernel will be patched without the help of a computer – in other words, it will be jailbroken even after each reboot, you don’t need to re-jailbreak iDevice anymore.

* Tethered Jalbreak

A tethered jailbreak is only able to temporarily jailbreak the device during a single boot. In order for the device to start completely and with a patched kernel, it must be "re-jailbroken" with a computer each time it is turned on.

* SemiTethered Jailbreak

A SemiTethered jailbreak is normally a tethered jailbreak with a package installed that allows you to reboot with limited use. You must perform a tethered boot to regain full functionality to your jailbroken device. Much better than a tethered jailbreak, but not quite as good as the untethered variety.
